It´s a first time for everything!

The past weekend it was:

The first snow fell down on us – we like!

The first ”morining-ice” on the pond.

AND I plant my first fir!

Two years ago, we had a deforestation in the forest. Within two years, we need to plant new trees. 2000 small fir plants going down into the ground.

Nice rows of plants, two meters between them. The ground is rocky and full of twigs and stubs. But it´s very nice to plant new forest. They will grow there for many, many years (50 – 70 years). It´s not we who will harverest them.

I have read somewhere, that planting a tree is sending a greeting into the future. It´s nice. I have sent many greetings now – planting approx 100 trees 😉

The autumn is here

t’s not warm anymore ……..

It’s raining, it’s windy and it’s cold, and I’ve started using my hat!

Autumn is here, and with it comes the time of the cozy fires.

The cozy fire time” I usually call it.

In the out-house we also have a fire – cozy to light dark autumn nights.

My ”cozy factors” are: light the stove, good cup of coffee and my little cat in the knee. Sometimes I have all three! 🙂

In the ”outhouse” I can offer you two or three, the cats are a bit shy, otherwise you could have borrowed them too ;

The autumn is ”shopping-time” here in Ullared.

Wish you a lovely October….comes tomorrow.

Love form Lotta & Ronny.

Lovely September

The sun is shining, and it is 25 celcius!

We have had some rainy weeks now, so both the lawn and the pond have received a lot of water. Some of the flowers has begun to bloom again. Like the violets in the grass.

I have just been on a long walk in the forest and took some pichtures…….

I love autumn. The air is so clear and beautiful. I found a lot of muchrooms, but not many of them was edible……

I like this one best 😉

Now, finally, we have a new couch in the house!

The old one was not so nice anymore. The leather (which was no leather, has begun to fall off!) The new one is in fabric and we hope our guests will like it.

Wish everyone a wonderful September 🙂

August – RAIN!

fullsizeoutput_bfe

It has been there all summer.
I have looked in it often.
Very often!
Always empty.
No, not completely empty……
A spider lived there during the first dry weeks.
But it died of heat strokes, I think, only the net was left.
It has only collected dead leaves and insects all throughout the summer.
Never rain!!!
Until this week – finally !!!
Over 40mm during the gone week,  and today it’s raining!
The grass has begun to grow again and the water in the pond does not sink anymore.
One of the fishes died a few weeks ago, but we think the other one is left. Ronny put a water pump in the pond, which has oxygenate the water, and we fed it with corn. We hope it likes it and survives.

We look back on a very hot and dry summer.
Wonderful weather – really – but too much is just that – TOO MUCH!!
I hope I will never experience such a summer again.
It’s been sad to not be able to water plants and see the lawn die. See the cows in the meadows eat boring feed from last year, instead of fresh green grass. See the birches drop their yellow leaves in June. And then this concern about forest fires and if the whater in the well is going to end.

Now summer has returned to ”normal” temperatures and  normal weather. Some rain and a little sunshine – just as it should be – I like!

We are looking forward to a beautiful autumn with high and clear sky. And lovely forest walks, perhaps we can find some chantarelles, now when the rain has come.

Wish you all a fantastic Sunday!

I´m going to enjoy the rain 😉

This summer – PHU!!!!

I have never…….    My father (87 years old) has never………. It has not been so hot any summer in Sweden since the weather measurements started 260 years ago!!!! This summer we will remembered!

IMG_8848

As a Swede, I did not think it could be ”too much summer”. We usually say like this: ”the Swedish summer – love that day!” (So last year!)

Our guests in the ”Uthuset” have also had a ”hot time”. Fortunately, the house is quite cool, but not this summer! Many has told us, that they have brought sweaters and jackets……..”we are going to Sweden…….”

Only 4 kilmometers from us, we got a small beach…….frequented visited this summer. (Like last time I cleaned the house, and got so warm and sveaty – I must go for a bath!!) The beach was not so crowded this day 😉

IMG_8428

There have been many baths in our beautiful lakes near by……..

We cool down with bathing, cold drinks and some of us rolling in the morning cold gravel 😉

Yesterday, we visited ”Willab Garden” a store selling greenhouses. This is my dream for next summer……..a darkred greenhouse by the pond = lovely!

When we got home, Ronny ”hit the sticks” that marked the size of the house and we decided what position it should have. Now we need to dig…….

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!

Lotta & Ronny

(And now we see some ”normal” summer temperatures on the weather forecast!)

Weekend in Marstrand ;)

This weekend we changed landscape, leave Halland for a visit in Bohuslän and Marstrand. (One of my sisters favorite places). I had never been there, so it would be exciting.

Friday, we drowe ca 150 km, to Marstrand, it took ca 1 1/2 hour. We left our forests and lakes, for archipelago and the sea. A total change of scene! We started our stay with a cold beer and a big shrimpsandwich! (This is the land of seafood!) Then we wisit my sister in here ”house-car”.

Saturday – we will go for a walk – the black trail! It was wonderful, absolutley wonderful! My sister had prepared a lunch for us,  with chamapgne. She is also wonderful 😉

Fiwe kilometers we walked, up and down. Many photo stops it became. On Marstrand there is no sandy beaches, but many small bath piers. My sister took a bath 🙂

img_2755

In the evening we crossed the little channel to Marstrands island by the ferry, and visti a nice resturant called ”Världshuset”.

We can really recommend this ”day trip” during your stay with us. But only on sunny days!!  My sisters favorite places is now one of my own 😉

Have a nice week – and we still hope for rain……..

We long for rain!

YES! Some small drops finally fall from the sky……

But we need a lot! It is a disaster for our farmers and their animals. It is a disaster because the forest is so dry and the leaves are yellow and falling….

In the north of Sweden, there is several forest fires wich are difficult to extinguish. It is fire prohibition in all of Sweden.

It is also adisaster for our plants, the lawn and my sunflowers 😦 The fish in our pond get less and less water every day….

BUT, right now it rain!!! I hope, from now, we got a normal summer. With some sun, some rain and temperatures we can handle, (not over 30°!!!)

But we have some wonderful days so far……with out rain…….bath in our lakes, canot trips with fishing and lots of lots of ice cream!!!!

Love from Lotta & Ronny at Slamrekullen.
